Acupuncture to Alleviate Pregnancy Ailments
Acupuncture can be used to relieve common ailments such as morning sickness, sciatica and pubic symphosis pain which can not only improve a woman’s quality of life but also prevent them becoming serious enough to necessitate medical treatment.
Although rarely available in the NHS acupunctures use in pregnancy is widespread in certain countries such as Denmark, France, Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand, where midwives undertake specialized acupuncture training. In 2009 Hutt Valley Hospital invited the New Zealand School of acupuncture to run clinic specifically for pregnancy related conditions.
